The suite

March 4th, 2008

If you need a lot of space for you and your family, you can select a suite. It is more expensive than the classic room but the return on investment sounds valuable. The suites have just been completed. They provide access to a dedicated swimming pool shared between all suites. You have two bedrooms in the suites.  I have heard that you can request the breakfast to be delivered in the suite (which isn’t the case for classic rooms). You can check out few pictures of the suites there.

The Spa

February 25th, 2008

The spaIf you want to relax yourself, I advise you to get to the spa. It is located at the far end of the resort, next to the circus school and the theater. This place is really nice. It has just been refreshed. There is a small swimming pool dedicated to the spa and sofas where you can get a massage while watching the beach and the sea. The spa isn’t managed by the Club Med but by a subcontractor. Masseurs aren’t GO.

The spaI have tried a massage to check out this activity value. It is well organized. You come in, you take a shower, you dress up with a underpants and a bathrobe and let’s go. A masseur comes to take care of you for a small hour. If the massage is inside the spa (not on the beach), then you enter a small fresh room where you can hear zen music. You lay down on the massage table and you wear a mask in order to just feel what’s going on. You can smell the nice perfume of the oils used during the massage. At the end, you can take a shower.

There are a lot of possibilities for the massage, either through a unique massage or through a treatment with few kind of massages. The prices start at 90€ and end at few hundred euros. I was quite happy with the massage even if I found it a bit expensive for the duration but you also pay for the refreshed place, they need to get a return on investment.

The bedroom

February 11th, 2008

The bedroomBedrooms are located all over the resort in two levels buildings (plus the basement). There is no lift but many bedrooms are in the basement so you can find a solution if you have problems with stairs. If you don’t like walking, you need to pay attention to the bedroom location because the resort is big (20 minutes from one end to the other) so at the booking, ask for a bedroom next to your favorite activities.

I have been impressed by the bedroom size. It is very roomy (30 m²). There is a corridor with a dressing (equiped with a flat iron and an ironing table), WC, bathroom and then a little lounge with two small beds and the main bedroom with a double bed. There is also a balcony with few chairs and a little table.

The bathroom has a bowl, a big shower and a hair-drier.

The bedroom has a little fidge, a coffee machine, a CD player, a TV set (with few US channels) and a secured box.

You can see the sea from some bedrooms and the garden from others.

The mini club

February 4th, 2008

The mini clubThe Punta Cana resort is really well suited to welcome the families with kids. It isn’t uncommon to see babies in the resort. You can trust the GO team to take care of your children without any doubt. Depending on the resort booking rate and the children age, there is one GO for 5 to 10 kids. They look after them all the day. They can practice all the sports activities or play some games.

The mini club opens early in the morning and closes after the dinner. If you want, you can spend the whole holidays without your kids. This is a possibility. Usually, the kids are very happy to be autonomous and they find a lot of friends in the resort.

At Punta Cana, the GO who are taking care of the mini club are wonderfull. They are very patient, they love the kids and they know how to take care of them.

The sailing

January 28th, 2008

The sailingYou can practice sailing and windsurfing at Punta Cana. Since it is very windy, it is the right place to practice these activities. But there is a lot of waves so it isn’t really easy for beginners.

The kayak

January 27th, 2008

The kayakAt Punta Cana, you have the opportunity to practice the kayak in the sea. The kayak has room for two people but you can use it alone. I have tried once but it was too windy and I ended into the water after only 10 meters. If you try the kayak, pay attention to the sunburn because with the wind, you may not feel directly that the sun is really hot there.

The roller

January 24th, 2008

The rollerThe resort has all the required equipments to practice the roller (head protective device, hand protection, roller). There is a ramp dedicated to this sport. There are also some GO available to perform the resort circuit with you. Few times a day, you will cross them as a small group in the resort (they signal themselves by whistling).
