Travel to Punta Cana
To travel to Punta Cana, first you need to take the plane. From Paris (France), the travel lasts more than 9 hours for the outward and more than 8 hours for the return. The flight can be achieved through the low cost company XL Airways or Air France. You need to be present 2 to 3 hours before the take off at the airport in Paris. For the return, this is the same, the Club Med will bring you to the airport 3 hours before the take off. This largely allows to complete the registration procedures within due time. The Punta Cana airport doesn’t have any air-conditioned system. There are just few fans. In case of hot temperature, it could become a bit tiring. So don’t forget to get a bottle of water before you leave the resort.
When you arrive in Punta Cana, you have to pay a tourism tax of 10$. Usually, the Club would have provided you with the required ticket to pass through the customs as you should have paid for this during the booking. After that, the GO team will be taking care of you and provide your room keys. This would allow you to go directly to your room after having completed the small path from the airport to the resort which doesn’t take more than 5 minutes with the bus. Your luggages will be brought directly to your room few minutes after your arrival.
My advise is to try to get the afternoon flight (between 1 and 4 PM). With the time difference between Paris and Punta Cana, you will arrive between 5 and 8 PM. You will be just in time to take the dinner then you can directly go to bed to sleep so that you don’t suffer too much from the time difference.
For the return, it is better to go early from the resort. The last day, it is always a short day as you need to prepare the luggages and free up the room so you wouldn’t have a lot of time to take advantage of the resort. By taking a mid day flight, you will be in Paris the day after early in the morning. Pay attention to the temperature difference, especially in winter as you will move in few hours from +30°C to 0°C, it is very special.
